Membership & Access

What does membership include?

Membership supports ongoing pediatric care with Dr. Beene, including:

  • Unhurried visits

  • Direct communication during defined hours

  • Care for acute concerns and chronic conditions

  • Guidance and coordination for labs, imaging, and referrals

  • Administration of recommended childhood vaccines

Care is provided through home visits, telemedicine, and phone when clinically appropriate.

What is not included in membership?

Membership does not replace emergency, hospital, or specialty care.

Services such as labs, imaging, medications, specialty care, and hospital care are billed separately by outside providers.

Is there a minimum commitment?

No. Membership can be canceled with advance notice per the membership agreement.

Do you accept insurance?

Jellybean Pediatrics does not bill insurance for membership.

Families are encouraged to maintain insurance for services outside the practice, such as labs, imaging, medications, specialty care, and hospital care.

Can families use HSA or FSA funds to pay for membership?

HSA/FSA reimbursement rules for direct primary care memberships can vary. Families are encouraged to check with their HSA/FSA administrator or tax advisor regarding eligibility and reimbursement.

Are vaccines included in membership?

Recommended childhood vaccines are offered through the practice, though vaccine and administration costs may be billed separately depending on insurance coverage and supply arrangements.

Is this concierge medicine?
Sort of, but more accurately, Jellybean Pediatrics is a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice.

Like concierge medicine, families have direct access to their pediatrician, longer visits, and a smaller patient panel. But unlike many concierge practices, we do not bill insurance for membership care. Instead, care is built around a simple monthly membership model focused on accessibility, transparency, and relationships.

How do I get started?

Start by pre-enrolling.

As enrollment approaches, we’ll reach out to schedule a brief Zoom call to answer questions and make sure this feels like a good fit.

When does Jellybean Pediatrics open?

Jellybean Pediatrics is planning to open in July 2026.

If you’re interested, you’re welcome to pre-enroll.

Visits & Care

Where do visits take place?

Visits may take place in your home, virtually, or by phone depending on the situation.

What is a one-time consultation?

A one-time consultation is an in-depth visit for a specific concern, second opinion, or additional guidance without enrolling in membership.

Does the consultation include follow-up?

Yes. One follow-up within the same month is included. Ongoing care requires membership.

Can the consultation fee be applied toward membership?

Yes. If you join within one month, the consultation fee will be credited toward membership.

Do you see patients in the hospital?

Hospital care is managed by the hospital-based team.

Dr. Beene may help guide and coordinate care, but clinical decision-making during hospitalization remains with the hospital team.

Do you see medically complex children?

Some medically complex children benefit from the added time and coordination this model provides.

Care is individualized and coordinated with specialists when needed. This practice does not replace specialty or hospital-based care.

Policies & Fit

What should I do in an emergency?

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Jellybean Pediatrics does not provide emergency care.

Is this practice right for every family?

This practice is not the right fit for every family.

It works best for families who value time, communication, and a direct relationship with their pediatrician, and who are comfortable with the structure and boundaries of this care model.

Can we keep our current pediatrician or specialists?

Yes. Families may continue care with other providers.

Jellybean Pediatrics can serve as your child’s primary care physician or as an additional source of guidance and coordination.

What ages do you see?

Children from infancy through adolescence.

What is your vaccine policy?

Jellybean Pediatrics follows evidence-based pediatric guidelines and strongly recommends routine childhood immunizations.

Dr. Beene is happy to discuss questions and, when appropriate, may consider alternative schedules, with the goal of keeping children as protected as possible.

Families who are opposed to routine childhood vaccination are not a good fit for this practice.
