What to Expect During the First Few Months of Birth Control

Common Side Effects, Bleeding Patterns & When to Call

The first few months on a new method are usually the hardest part — not because anything's wrong, but because you don't yet know what's normal and what isn't.

Spotting, a change in your period, mild nausea, sore breasts, or shifts in your skin are all common early on, and most of it settles down as your body adjusts. A few symptoms, though, are worth a call sooner rather than later.

This printable guide walks through what's typical for each method, what tends to improve on its own, and what should prompt you to reach out. If something feels off, get in touch — that's what I'm here for.
